Carlingford Rotary Club and Rotary Club of Alice Springs completed a joint project to erect a basketball ring for Watarrka Primary School, Kings Canyon, Northern Territory.

Back in 2011, Carlingford Rotary Club commenced a project with the Ulpanyali Aboriginal Community near Kings Canyon, about 450km southwest of Alice Springs.

In October 2011, 20 members and partners from Carlingford Rotary Club visited this remote community and presented them with an etching press and drying racks to assist their fledging Art Centre ( 2 prints attached). We also purchased numerous tools to assist the men and we were able to visit the nearby Lilla School (now known as Watarrka Primary School) the following day where the children from Ulpanyali attend.

Since then Carlingford Rotary Club has assisted the Community by purchasing their bush soaps and Calendars.
Carlingford Rotary Club's Youth Director Colin Booth and Community Director Gary Hayman have been instrumental in organising this joint project. Colin liaised with the School principal Christine Munro about her needs and with Rotarians from Alice Springs to provide the manpower and materials for the project. Gary made provision for the cost of all materials in his budget.

A great result for the kids who attend Watarrka Primary School and a good example of 2 Rotary Clubs working together to make it possible.
