Call to Action
You may not be fully aware of Food Plant Solutions Rotarian Action Group and our work in providing self-sustaining solutions to malnutrition and food security to those most in need in the developing world.  We take this opportunity to explain how you can provide major support to our work with very little effort.

Food Plant Solutions (formerly operating as the LearnwGrow project) is simply about solutions based on the diversity of the world’s food plants that offer a sustainable, self-reliant approach to malnutrition.  These can deliver the benefits of healthy diets, resilient food systems, lower food prices and greater availability of food, particularly to those most in need.

Food Plant Solutions is based on arguably the greatest resource on the world’s food plants, created and developed by Tasmanian agricultural scientist, Bruce French.  Containing comprehensive information on over 26,600 edible plants for all countries of the world, this resource can be used to identify many neglected and underutilized plants that can support sustainable food production systems in the developing world. Food plants that are well adapted and thrive in a particular region or country and contain the highest levels of key nutrients can be readily identified from the database.

Food Plant Solutions is ready and able to support any aid provider in any country to incorporate this solution into existing or new aid programs. It cannot be acted upon unless Rotarians are aware of its potential. If you could help us achieve our aim of having one member of Food Plant Solutions Rotarian Action Group in every Rotary club in your district, you would help us become a very meaningful network within Rotary!   Becoming a member does not impose an onerous obligation; it simply means becoming an ambassador for the project.  The attached Call to Action and Membership Form provides further information and details of potential actions members can undertake.

Further information about the project can be found at our website – Food Plant Solutions.
