The Sydney Hills Garden Competition has been held for this year and the Awards Night is to be held on Friday 25th. Some of the prize winning gardens will then be open to the public over the weekend.

So this is your chance to see the best gardens in The Hills. The gardens which will be open between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 September are : “Elsie’s Garden” , 16 Gordonia Grove, Baulkham Hills, “Taliesin” , 5 Jane Place Dural, “Boulevard”, 20 Wylds Rd Middle Dural, “Burnt Rails”, 28 Glen St, Galston

On Sunday 27 ( ONLY ) the “East meets West” garden at 25 Darcey Rd Castle Hill will also be open.

The Sydney Hills Open Gardens is a project of The Rotary Club of The Hills-Kellyville and funds raised are donated to a range of local and overseas charities and projects. A major beneficiary of the Open Gardens is The Westmead Children’s Hospital. More than $50,000 has been donated to various projects at the hospital over the years that the Club has been running Open Gardens.

Mrs Elsie Hehir, who won the Eric Mobbs Trophy in the Competition last year, told The Times this week “ I am so happy to help the Rotary people, they do such a good job and with out them there would be no Garden Competition. “

“Elsie, who makes no secret that she is 87 years old, will have her garden open this weekend,“ Keith Stapley, Competition Organiser said to The Times, “ and I thoroughly recommend you see this beautiful spring garden. In contrast to Elsie’s garden is the huge, 5 acre garden “ Boulevard” at Wylds Road Middle Dural, with its sweeping lawns and quirky garden sculptures “

As part of this celebration of Spring, the ladies of The Inner Wheel Club of Baulkham Hills will be serving Devonshire Teas on the lawns of Heritage listed “Glenhope” all weekend from 10 am til 4 pm.
