Are you looking to, or know someone who wishes to make a significant impact on the world by promoting tolerance and cooperation?  Rotary selects some of the world’s most dedicated and brightest professionals to receive fully funded fellowships to study at our Rotary Peace Centers.  In just over a decade, the Rotary Peace Centers have trained more than 900 fellows for careers in peace building.  Many of them go on to serve as leaders in national governments, NGOs, the military, law enforcement, and international organizations like the United Nations and World Bank.
 
Applications are invited for Rotary Peace Fellowships awarded in 2015 for the academic year in 2016
 
The Rotary Peace Fellowship is the premier educational program of The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and supports Rotary’s mission to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace. It is intended for individuals, who have chosen a career related to international relations, peace, and conflict resolution; who have work experience in these areas; and who have a commitment to community or international humanitarian service and working for peace. Applicants should consider these objectives carefully before applying.
 
Two types of Fellowships are offered:
 
2)  Professional Development Certificate (3 months at Chulalongkorn University, Thailand)
 
Up to 50 Masters Degree Fellowships and 50 Professional Development Certificate Fellowships are awarded annually.
 
Both programs provide funding for round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, room and board plus other limited expenses.
 
Applicants
Fellows from around the world are selected, based on their ability to have a significant, positive impact on the world. To be considered for a Peace Fellowship an applicant must have a strong commitment to international understanding and peace, demonstrated through professional and academic achievements and personal and community service.
 
Applicants require a bachelor’s degree with strong academic achievement in a related field, plus 3 years relevant work experience (paid and unpaid) for the Masters program and 5 years work experience for the Professional Development Certificate (and current fulltime employment at mid- to upper-level in a relevant occupation).
 
Applications are to be submitted in the first instance to local Rotary Clubs.  Whilst applicants can make initial enquiries online from TRF, he/she will be referred to a local Club for further action.
 
Restrictions in eligibility apply. Rotarians, former Rotarians, spouses and lineal descendants of Rotarians cannot apply for the Master’s program but can apply for the Professional Development Certificate course providing they pay all costs. Previous Ambassadorial Scholars cannot apply within three years of their grants.
 
The selection process involves Rotary Club interview and nomination. Rotary Clubs are encouraged to have a stringent assessment process, recognising that an outstanding track record in academic achievement and relevant experience in international relations, peace and conflict resolution are essential criteria.
 
Nominations from Rotary Clubs must be received by District 9685 by 30th April 2015 (please forward to Rotary District 9685 Office, 3/7 Sefton Road, Thornleigh, NSW, 2120).
 
District interviews and endorsement will take place in May-June, 2015 and nominations will be forwarded to The Rotary Foundation by the closing date, July 1, 2015.
