20th Annual Tour De Hills™ Bicycle Classic

On Sunday March 1 2015, hundreds of cyclists will ride along the scenic roads of Sydney’s Hills District as part of the Tour de Hills™ Bicycle Classic while raising important funds for the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.

The Tour de Hills™ has become something of a local institution, with the Rotary Club of Castle Hill having run the event each year for the past 20 years. This year’s major sponsors are the Australian Hotel and Brewery and the Hills News/Rouse Hill–Stanhope Garden News.

Registrations are now open for the 20th  Annual Tour de Hills Bicycle Classic. By simply registering online at tourdehills.com.au, entrants go into the draw for a 2015 BH Quartz (105) bicycle worth $2699, donated by event sponsors the Bike Shop of Castle Hill and BH Bikes Australia.

Earlybird registration is $55 per person, or $60 per person after January 31st. Discounted rates apply for children and family groups.

Riders can choose to join in one of four scenic and exhilarating routes, starting with the family friendly 15km, 30km, 50km or 90km for experienced riders.

HELPING TO FIND A CURE FOR MND
Last year the event raised $37,000 for major beneficiary the Macquarie University Centre for Research into Motor Neurone Disease.
Neurologist Professor Rowe is urging people to get behind the Tour de Hills™ in 2015.

“Every day, two Australians will die from Motor Neurone Disease, and a further two will receive the devastating news they have this terminal affliction,” Professor Rowe said. “At Macquarie University, we have assembled Australia’s best medical researchers to find a way to stop this disease.

Please join us on the Tour De Hills ride and you will not only have a great day out, you will also be supporting Australia’s largest MND Research Centre to help fight MND.”

HAMILTON ISLAND HOLIDAY FOR HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER

A generous private benefactor has donated 3 nights’ accommodation on Hamilton Island to thank the rider who raises the most money for the event. Return airfares to Hamilton Island have been kindly donated by PWC Private Clients Group.

GEARING UP FOR THE DAY

The 20th  Annual Tour de Hills Bicycle Classic starts and finishes at the Australian Hotel and Brewery in Rouse Hill, where lunch is provided to the riders afterwards.

If the police postpone the ride due to inclement weather, the ride will be held on 22nd March, 2015.
