Vanuatu Disaster Appeal - Funds Allocation Criteria

Applications (application form) are now being called for disbursement of the Vanuatu Disaster Appeal funds. In reviewing and assessing applications the following criteria will be used as part of the approval process. Obviously it will greatly facilitate approval if a fully compliant application is submitted. Non-compliant applications will either not be approved or additional information will be requested before the application is considered further.

1.      The available funds are allocated to the medium to longer term rebuilding phase and are not for emergency relief.
2.      Funds cannot be used for travel, accommodation or expenses of a personal nature.
3.      Building materials, minor tools, together with freight of same, are permissible.
4.      The maximum grant amount is set at $30,000.
5.      The approved application form must be completed in its entirety with full details of the proposed project and/or use of funds applied for.
6.      Photographs of proposed projects must accompany the application form. Such photos must clearly indicate the scope of the repairs/rebuild involved in the project and detailed in the application.
7.      All building works must comply with the latest Government Building Standards and not simply be a reinstatement of what existed prior to Cyclone Pam.
8.      The Project Committee will be ensuring that there is an equitable distribution of the funds amongst the islands damaged during the cyclone. To that end advice will be sought from local contacts to ascertain whether proposals meet adjudged priorities and needs of the Vanuatu communities.
9.      At all times the normal funding conditions of Rotary Australia World Community Service will apply.
